1.Type of Government:

 Bangladesh is a parliamentary democracy, which means that the executive branch derives its democratic legitimacy from, and is directly accountable to, the legislature (parliament).


2.Head of State:

 The President of Bangladesh is the ceremonial head of state. The President's role is largely ceremonial, and they are elected by the members of the Jatiya Sangsad (National Parliament) for a five-year term.


3.Head of Government:

 The Prime Minister is the head of government and holds the most significant executive powers. The Prime Minister is the leader of the majority party or coalition in the Jatiya Sangsad and is responsible for running the government.



4.Legislative Branch:

 The Jatiya Sangsad, the National Parliament of Bangladesh, is a unicameral legislature consisting of 300 members. Members are elected through direct elections for five-year terms.


5.Political Parties:

Bangladesh has a vibrant multi-party system with numerous political parties. The two major political parties historically have been the Awami League and the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). These parties have been dominant in the country's politics.


6.Elections:

 General elections are held every five years to elect members of the Jatiya Sangsad. The political party or coalition that wins the majority of seats in the parliament forms the government, and their leader becomes the Prime Minister.




7.Judicial System:

Bangladesh has an independent judiciary, with the Supreme Court as the highest court of appeal. The judiciary plays a crucial role in upholding the rule of law in the country.


8.Local Government:

Bangladesh is divided into divisions, districts, upazilas (sub-districts), and unions. There are local government bodies at various levels, including city corporations, municipalities, and union councils, which handle local administration and governance.
